UFB stands for Ultra Fast Broadband – basically it means a fibre based internet connection.  All Safenet connections are UFB connections.

What is Secure DNS?

DNS stands for Domain Name Service.  It is the process by which a human friendly address like ‘’ is translated into a computer usable IP address like  Every time your computer needs to send something over a network it will ask a DNS server to do an address translation first.  Our secure DNS service checks that the address being requested is not known to be associated with some nefarious purpose first.  If it is, it will redirect you to a warning page.

What is Cisco Umbrella?

Cisco Umbrella is Secure DNS with some extra functionality. Secure DNS acts at the network level while Cisco Umbrella works by installing an agent on each of your PC’s or laptops. This means they are protected wherever they are.

What do you man by “domain level email filtering”?

If your email address is, is your domain. In domain level email filtering we change the records associated with your domain such that any email sent to anyone with an email address in that domain is first sent to us for spam and malware scanning before we send it on to your regular email server.

What Anti Virus Software do you use?

We use a product called Managed Antivirus – it is based on the well know product Bit Defender.  We are Alos resellers of the ESET NOD32 suite of security products and we use which

Is there a per user charge?

In some cases yes.  Cisco Umbrella and the Managed Antivirus products are charged on a per user basis.  Email filtering costs also depend on the number of addresses you have within a domain.

What is A VPN?

A VPN is a ‘Virtual Private Network’.  It is a means of securely connecting to your office network from somewhere else like your home or a hotel.  This allows you to access data and devices that are inside your office network.  Data that flows back and forth over a VPN is securely encrypted so that is cannot be intercepted.

I already have a UFB connection – can I just use that

It depends on what security services you want.  Generally we can retro fit the SafeNet security services to an existing internet connection, but it is way better if you have both the internet connection and the security services through us.  There is no cost to switching an existing UFB connection to us, so why wouldn’t you?
